Privacy Policy
FingerCast (“we”, “the app”) is a fishing charts and social catch log operated by MightyFinger. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it when you use the FingerCast mobile app and API at finger-cast.com.
Information we collect
- Account: email, username, display name, password hash, optional bio.
- Catch logs: species, notes, lure, measurements, privacy setting, map coordinates you choose to save, and photos you upload.
- Map pins & social: pins you create, follows, likes, and comments.
- Device / session: API auth tokens and basic request metadata (e.g. IP for abuse prevention).
- Optional device location: used on-device for own-ship on charts and catch pinning; we only store coordinates you attach to a catch or pin.
- Photo EXIF: if you attach a gallery photo, the app may read embedded GPS/date locally to suggest catch time and place.
How we use information
To run your account, sync catches and feed posts, show map content you share, send transactional email (sign-up / password reset), improve reliability, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal data.
Sharing
Catch posts and pins follow the privacy setting you choose (everyone, followers, or only you). Public content is visible to other FingerCast users. Service providers that host email SMTP or CDN/DNS (e.g. Cloudflare Tunnel to our home server) process data only to deliver the service.
Retention & deletion
We keep account and catch data until you delete your account or remove content. You can delete your account in Settings (password confirmation required). Backups on our home server may retain copies for a limited period.
Children
FingerCast is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.
